BRINT claims to have the "Premier Collection of Contemporary Business, Management, and Technology Issues" and it would be hard to dispute that claim on the basis of these four sites, which have gotten rave reviews.

Action Learning International
Action Learning International is a gateway to the wealth of information and resources available across the Internet. The result is a virtual meeting place and Internet library for action learners and researchers worldwide, sponsored by the International Management Centres.

American Productivity & Quality Center
APQC claims to be "the leader in knowledge management (KM), helping launch KM as a key business practice in 1996." This site features articles and promotes APQC products. APQC also hosts a knowledge management discussion list.

Anbar Management Resources
This site provides rapid access to the abstracts of more than 85,000 articles drawn from more than 400 management journals from around the world, for a fee. The full text of any article is available immediately or within two hours.

Artificial Intelligence Applications Institute
AIAI is a technology transfer organization within the University of Edinburgh that promotes and expedites the application of research on artificial intelligence for the benefit of industrial, commercial, government, and academic clients. This page consists of an introduction to knowledge management and a variety of links compiled by the AIAI commercial director, connecting to applications, tools, references, and events.

ASLIB: The Association for Information Management
ASLIB is a world-class corporate membership organization with more than 2000 members in about 70 countries. It provides consultation and information services and professional development training. It also hosts conferences and publishes primary and secondary journals, conference proceedings, directories, and monographs. Several of its periodicals are available on the Web site.

Aurora WDC: Competitive Intelligence
This site provides essays and articles, a chat room, a forum, an e-mail discussion list, and a variety of other resources.

CI Resource Index
This site lists sites by category for finding competitive intelligence resources-sources of information sources and vendors of CI services and products. There's also a search engine.

CIO
This site features CIO Magazine OnLine, "The Online Resource for IT and Business Decision Makers," with full text of the current issue and archives of past issues. There are two other magazines on this site: CIO Enterprise and CIO WebBusiness. The site also includes a Web events calendar and more than a dozen "research centers." Web Central provides an assortment of useful links, focusing on business and information technology.

Competitive Intelligence Guide
This site, maintained by Fuld & Company, a business intelligence consulting firm, features an index of more than 300 intelligence-related Internet sites and a collection of competitive intelligence success stories, along with tools to help companies organize and plan intelligence strategies.

Complete Intranet Resource
This impressive site features articles, white papers, case studies, a discussion list, a book list, a schedule of events, a directory of vendors and software sources, and links to other resources.

Craig Marion's Knowledge Management Page
This page provides links to organizations, companies, conferences, academic and research bodies, presentations, online periodicals, bibliographies, and miscellaneous information.

Data Mine
This site provides a short introduction to data mining, papers, bibliographies, lists of journals and conferences, biographies of "data miners," and links to other data mining sites. Unfortunately, it seems to be in need of updating.

EuroKnowledge
EuroKnowledge is a European IT initiative to encourage standardization activities in the area of knowledge technology. It involves more than 150 organizations from industry and academia. This site provides a lot of links to sites about knowledge modeling projects, methods, and tools and related topics.

European Benchmarking Consortium on Knowledge Management
The consortium was formed in May 1997 by the European Foundation for Quality Management, the American Productivity & Quality Center, and the partners in the Knowledge Management Network. The Web site features a forum for registered KMN members, with discussions organized around propositions and questions; the discussion threads are then organized into categories, around specific KM topics. Visitors may also access the KMN archives for position papers and reports. Judging from the Web site, the Consortium is relatively inactive of late.

European Consortium for the Learning Organisation
ECLO is an international non-profit association established in Belgium in 1993. It consists of European academic and business organizations committed to exploring new directions in business performance and personnel development from a learning organization perspective. It publishes The Learner (three issues/year), excerpts from which can be found on the Web site.

Extranet: A Reference Page
This page is maintained by Kerstin Forsberg, who updates it monthly. It features definitions and introductions, articles, books, conferences and courses, discussions, and references.

Extranets: Readings and Resources
This page lists links to articles and papers, books, Web resources, periodicals, and conferences.

Fast Company Magazine
This site allows access to every article from every issue of "the magazine about work and life in the new economy, your handbook for the business revolution." There are also Fast Talk (discussion forums) and Fast Take, an occasional electronic newsletter about Fast Company, as well as the Company of Friends (an electronic community) and a book club.

Federal CIO Council
This is "the principal interagency forum to improve the design, modernization, use, sharing, and performance of resources." There are documents and links to sites maintained by other government offices, councils, and agencies.

Gerrit Visser: Knowledge Management & Organizational Learning
This is a somewhat confusing but interesting collection of several dozen sites.

Gotcha
Gotcha is a guide to knowledge management, "designed for those who are new to KM and still exploring its fundamentals, as well as for power users looking to expand their KM resources or understanding." The site provides information about KM, a variety of links, and a KM search engine.

Inquiry.com
The purpose of this site is to help software developers and IT professionals get answers to tough development questions, through Ask the Pros, technical Q&A forums that match users with technical experts and peers, and an engine that allows articles searches of selected business and technology periodicals.

International Knowledge Management Network
The network aims to promote and develop knowledge management within organizations, with its main objectives being to improve business processes and enhance competitive power by employing an integral and problem-oriented approach to knowledge management.

Intranet Journal
This on-line publication provides news, articles, opinions and advice, resources, a calendar of events, a library, a bookstore, and a discussion area-all with a search engine.

Israeli Knowledge Management Home Page
This new site provides an introduction to the concepts of knowledge management.

KMHome
These links compiled by David X. Swenson, a management professor at the College of St. Scholastica, cover a wide range, including "Data Mining or Knowledge Discovery" and "Executive Dashboard or Balanced Scoreboard."

Knowledge Business
This site by Teleos is devoted to knowledge management, learning organizations, and creativity and innovation. It lists events, books, articles, and other resources, with a lot of links.

Knowledge Connections: David Skyrme Associates
This site features I3 Update, a free briefing analyzing developments in the networked knowledge economy. (The I3 means intelligence, insight, innovation.) The publication is also available by e-mail. The site also contains articles from past issues related to knowledge management and business strategies, as well as a collection of links to other Web KM resources.

Knowledge Garden
Part of the Business Transformation Book Café, a project of Vision Nest Publishing, this site features documents on such topics as knowledge management, collective learning, and organizational memory and short excerpts on issues related to business transformation.

Knowledge Management, Communication, and Use
This site is an ambitious attempt to cover knowledge management comprehensively: background, general perspectives, processes, supporting technology, tools, events.

Knowledge Management Consortium
KMC was incorporated in December 1997 as a nonprofit organization to bring together organizations to develop a shared vision and common understanding about knowledge and knowledge management in the context of a knowledge economy. Among the resources being planned for KMC members are special interest groups, a newsletter, case studies, articles, a bibliography, and links to other knowledge management groups.

Knowledge Management Excellence Forum
The Forum provides information for knowledge management professionals, covering industry trends, linking to research centers, and listing upcoming conferences-"ideal for executives and specialists seeking to build world-class processes and a knowledge-sharing culture." Membership
is $25,000 per year.

Knowledge Management Exchange
This site is intended to provide a means of exchanging ideas about knowledge management, particularly as it relates to decision support. It's inspired and informed by the book, Decision Support Systems: A Knowledge-Based Approach by Clyde W. Holsapple and Andrew B. Whinston.

Knowledge Management Resource Center
This site by IKM Corporation is a comprehensive collection of KM resources categorized into 15 departments.

Knowledge Management Server
The site, managed by Tom Davenport, offers a good bibliography, with some articles on KM and related subjects, and a resource review of products and organizations.

Knowledge Management Trailblazer
This site is touted as "your one-stop resource for knowledge management information," featuring "high-quality Web sites."

Knowledge Management World
The cyber home of the magazine that aims to be "the leading information provider serving the knowledge management systems community," this site features news, articles, and discussion forums, and-of course-the magazine.

Knowledge Nurture
This is the Buckman Laboratories Web site for knowledge management. It was set up as a resource to help people learn about knowledge management. There's an area promoting knowledge-sharing efforts at Buckman, a "starter kit" that links to glossaries and a few articles and recommends key books, a library of articles organized into about 20 sections, and an events calendar.

Knowledge On-Line
"The central information and communication forum for Chief Knowledge Officers and Knowledge Workers world-wide," this site features a "knowledge editorial," links, and a "knowledge café." Registration (free) is required for some areas.

Knowledge Science Institute
The KSI was founded in 1985 with the mandate to study all aspects of the knowledge economy. It has a wide range of multidisciplinary theoretical and practical research activities and publishes the monthly International Journal of Human-Computer Studies/Knowledge Acquisition. The site features articles that may be downloaded in several formats (including one-paragraph abstract) from ftp and Web archives.

Knowledge Sharing Effort
The KSE is a consortium to develop conventions facilitating sharing and reuse of knowledge bases and knowledge-based systems. This site is a public directory for information and software related to this ARPA project.

K-Windows
This page is a list of resources compiled by Joe Katzman. He labels the sites as "basic," "intermediate," and "expert" and uses a five-star system to rate them.

The Leadership Alliance Inc.
TLA specializes in organizational learning and knowledge management. This site publishes (online) the Journal of Knowledge Management Practice and offers a good variety of essential links.

The Learning Organizations Homepage
This site features an introduction to learning organizations, online articles and other resources, as well as a annotated "mediagraphy"-and a way to register for e-mail notices of any site updates.

MCB University Press
This publisher produces a variety of journals. The site provides access to articles from current and past issues, as well as a Virtual Conference Centre that provides forums for discussions along certain themes and sub-themes, with archives of completed conferences.

Mental Model Musings
This site consists of thought-provoking ideas and opinions primarily about systems, from Gene Bellinger of OutSights, a knowledge consulting group, and many other sources. Many of the "musings" are about knowledge management or related areas.

National Knowledge and Intellectual Property Management Taskforce
This new site was created to serve as a central information and training resource for professionals dealing with intellectual property and knowledge management issues.

NetAcademy on Knowledge Media
This site by the Institute for Media and Communications Management at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, is intended "to provide a Virtual Research Universe on Knowledge Media." The events calendar is very comprehensive and up-to-date.

Official Intellectual Capital Home Page
Sponsored by the Institute for Intellectual Capital Research, this is a site for academic researchers and knowledge managers. It features an extensive list of references to intellectual capital and related topics (with Web links or ordering information), a list of prominent researchers and managers in the field, a list of software or other tools for identifying, measuring, and effectively managing intellectual capital, and a list of links to conferences, past and future.

Online
The Web site features selected full-text articles and news from "the Leading Magazine for Information Professionals," as well as a table of contents and links to information. A good site to bookmark and visit regularly.

Organisational Knowledge Media
This site, maintained by the Knowledge Media Institute at The Open University, focuses on using digital media to support the construction and management of organizational knowledge resources. Other pages here feature various KMI research activities.

Organizational Learning and Cognition
This is a selection of Web-based resources on organizational learning, organizational cognition, information management, knowledge management, and scenario planning gathered by Chun Wei Choo, co-author of Managing Information for the Competitive Edge and author of Information Management for an Intelligent Corporation: The Art of Environmental Scanning and The Knowing Organization: How Organizations Use Information to Construct Meaning, Create Knowledge, and Make Decisions.

Organizational Learning and Knowledge Management
Martin Ryder, a professor of instructional technology at the University of Colorado-Denver, offers a good selection of links.

Records and Information Management Resource List
This site, which lists more than 3300 links in more than 230 categories to records management organizations, information, and other related sites, includes some 120 knowledge management links.

Searcher: The Magazine for Database Professionals
This site features selected articles from recent issues of Searcher.

Sloan Management Review
This site features summaries of articles from Sloan Management Review; reprints can be ordered by e-mail, phone, fax, or mail.

Smith Weaver Smith: Cultural Changemakers
This site offers a "comprehensive annotated introduction to Knowledge Management resources on the web" and an electronic journal, Talking Culture, Talking Knowledge.

Society for Information Management
This site is "the international meeting place for IT executives from around the globe," with information on the Society, events, programs, and vendor partners, as well as discussion forums and the SIM Exchange, a virtual store.

Society for Organizational Learning
The purpose of SoL is "to discover, develop, and integrate multiple theories of leading, learning, and working together." This site features the Idea Exchange (short essays on such topics as organizational learning, knowledge management, and organizational design and culture), Practice Field (applications of concepts and tools), information on events, SOL publications (some of which are on-line), and the SOL newsletter, SoL Commons-a bimonthly electronic "community" resource.

Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals
This organization maintains forums on various CI interest areas, with limited privileges for guests. Visitors can also access the current issue of the society monthly newsletter, Actionable Intelligence, and archives. The site has a search engine.

Solo Librarians Division, Special Libraries Association
The Solo Librarians Division of SLA ("Working together for those working alone") is for the "isolated librarian or information collector/provider who has no professional peers within the immediate organization." This page of the SLA site provides links to resources of special interest to knowledge managers who work independently.

Special Libraries Association
The SLA offers "Selected References on Knowledge Management"-a list of articles, Web links, and a book. Although intended for librarians, most of these resources are of more general interest.

Sveiby Knowledge Management
This site features Tango, a business simulation game to help managers manage knowledge and measure intangible assets. The Library links to more than 40 articles on knowledge management and related topics, most by Karl Sveiby, and there are several interactive tools.
